Alexa Harris Associate Therapist

Alexa is a Registered Social Worker (RSW/ MSW) who has experience and is open to working teenagers and adults. Alexa uses a compassionate and non-judgemental approach when working with her clients. Alexa creates a safe space to assure that her clients feel heard, supported, and accepted when working in their shared therapeutic environment.

Alexa has extensive experience providing support to those who are experiencing trauma related symptoms, depression, anxiety and substance use. Alexa has specialization in treating trauma related symptoms by acquiring a comprehensive certification and training for Cognitive Processing Therapy. Alexa is skilled in Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, Structured Relapse Prevention and Mindfulness. Alexa supports her clients through an eclectic approach, assuring that her clients get the best treatment option possible that works for them.

Alexa holds a Master of Social Work degree from University of Toronto that was acquired 2018, an Honours of Social Work Degree from Laurentian University that was acquired 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lakehead University that was acquired 2013. Alexa is a practicing mental health psychotherapist who works within a holistic and narrative lens, she works to understand what her clients wants and needs are at the forefront of her practice.

Alexa has dedicated her career in Social Work to support the LGBTQ2i, the Indigenous communities, and those who are struggling by systemic barriers. Alexa is passionate about policy work and working on Truth and Reconciliation progression through committees and the public forums.

When Alexa isn’t working, she is painting, crafting, playing video’s games, and spending time with her family. She also is a kayak enthusiast who loves spending as much time as she can on the water.
